When asked to review the FNH FNS .40 I was so excited I yawned and considered a nap instead. Double-stack, plastic-framed, double-action-only handguns are so common right now I could not, at first, find the excitement. Looking closer, however, the FNS series includes some new features making it worth a look.
This article was fun to both write and do the testing. Adaptive Tactical is a small company that makes various parts, accessories, and modification kits for the Mossberg 500, Ruger 10/22, and Remington 870. For this article, I will be looking at Adaptive Tactical’s Venom Conversion Kit for the Mossberg 500.
This past summer I purchased an ESEE knife. I bought it because I was going to go on some minimalist camping trips at the end of summer and I had heard nothing but good things about the ESEE knives. So I thought I would give them a try and see how they would hold up to the abuse of hard weekend of camping.
Firearm designs come and go but some few lucky ones get attached to images in our minds and become icons. The Winchester 94 to cowboys, the M1 Garand to Doughboys, the S&W k-frame to patrol officers and the Heckler and Koch MP-5 to SWAT teams. In 1980, television brought images of SAS Commandos storming the Iranian Embassy in London with MP-5 submachine guns.
This article is a comparison of revolvers, specifically an old single-action .357 magnum Hawes Firearms “Western Marshal” and a double-action .357 magnum Colt Manufacturing “Trooper Mk III.” While it may not be exactly “fair” to compare a single-action to a double-action, both are good revolvers with interesting histories, and different enough to provide an entertaining comparison. I enjoyed shooting and learning about them both.
In the search for a new and “different” firearm build project (e.g. “not an AR-type rifle”) I stumbled upon the ample number of imported, demilitarized UZI parts kits that are available for purchase at very reasonable prices.
The Internet back-and-forth on the Canik (pronounced Janick) TP9SA is so fierce I am actually hesitant to wade in with this review.
