G96 Products Inc. Part 2 – Greases and Cleaners

By IPC

This is second in a three part article series about G96 Products Inc. If you have not read the first article, I encourage you to read it here.

In the previous article, I wrote about all of the gun oils that G96 Products makes. In this article I will be talking about the various greases and cleaners that are produced by G96; the Firearm Cleaner/Degreaser, Rapid Fire Grease, Crud Buster, and Liquid Gun Grease.

The Crud Buster, besides having a catchy name, is a great product. It is an aerosol spray that allows you to clean and degrease you firearm (or anything else that needs cleaning) without having to disassemble it. It is safe to use on firearm furniture as well, saving you the hassle of having to keep it from getting on your expensive stock. I tested this product by shooting for most of a day without wiping or clean my rifle and pistol of any kind. I dropped it in mud a few times. Then I let them sit overnight. The next day I used the Crud Buster to bust all of the nasty crud out of my firearms. It worked like a charm. It cleaned out most of the buildup and what was left was easily wiped out with a cloth.

A couple weeks later, just to get outside the box a bit, I used it on some lawn mower parts that I was having a tough time cleaning. It worked on that too. (This was done purely for product testing. Please follow all proper instructions when using this product.)

Rapid Fire Gun Grease, or RFG Grease, is G96 Products latest military grade grease product. Once you have cleaned your firearm, apply this effective gun grease to any sliding part. The RFG Grease utilizes nano-synthetic technology to provide extreme levels of protection and lubrication, as well as superior performance in harsh climates. The low temperate freezing point (-80F) and high dropping point (500F) mean that the grease will perform as it is supposed to in conditions that would normally kill a person.

The RFG Grease also helps reduce the buildup of residue and hydrocarbons. During testing, I placed the RFG Grease on the slide rails and trigger mechanism of my pistol. After several hundred rounds, I disassembled my pistol to check and clean it. There was residue buildup, but I noticed that the grease was still present in the slide rails and trigger mechanism and it was still effective. It also made a noticable difference when I cleaned my pistol.

The Liquid Gun Grease is the same grease as the RFG Grease, but in a different form making it easier to use for different applications. I tested this product as well with identical results to the RFG Grease. Being in liquid form, it is easier to apply to smaller and harder to reach places in a firearm.

Like the Bio-CLP I wrote about in the first article, the Firearm Cleaner/Degreaser is a newer item that G96 has produced. It is water-based, meaning no leftover oily residue, and also like the Bio-CLP, it is biodegradable. It is effective at removing inorganic residue and organic residue, like hydrocarbon from metallic and nonmetallic surfaces. I tested the Firearm Cleaner/Degreaser in the same manner that I tested the Crud Buster. I put my firearms through a hard, long day at the range and left them overnight to clean them the next morning. I will admit that the Crud Buster was easier to use since it is an aerosol can, but the Firearm Cleaner/Degreaser was just as effective at removing the residue and nasty leftovers from shooting. G96 Products also recommends using their Cleaner/Degreaser before applying any of their bluing agents (which I will write about in the next article).

So far I have greatly enjoyed testing the G96 products. I am very pleased with how well they have performed and how easy it has been to clean my firearms, even after leaving them overnight.

This is the second in a three part series about G96 Products. Keep an eye out for the third and last article about their bluing agents!
